BP4- What's Great About Web 2.0 Tools?

Storify (http://vimeo.com/13950163is a great tool for collaborative learning.  It creates stories that are nonfiction (people generated news) into wonderful interactive stories using movies, pictures, tweets, blogs and more that you could publish anywhere.

What's interesting about the tool is that it is simple and easy.  I have found through trial and error in the adoption of web 2.0 tools in learning is that in order for learners to feel comfortable and at ease to use a program, it shouldn't be complicated or hard. Imagine trying to show that you have learned an idea but are told to use a tool that is very hard to figure out.  Sometimes it works out, while others could do worst trying to learn how to work the tool.

Storify would be a great help in my language art classroom from basic storytelling of a character in a book to writing a story about their research process.  It would be a wonderful helper for allowing learners to learn from another through sharing ideas in a variety of ways.  It would provide an enriching experience to a usually mundane task.

But it is not only a great tool for learners but for educators as well.  Having students use conversations to spark interest in what they learned and share it with others, will hopefully ignite a discussion and create a story worth sharing that could not be imitated in the classroom.  This tool is not limited to the classroom but could be used in a variety of settings including administration and businesses, too.

Blogging is a way to share what you know with others.  I have shared things before on My Space and Facebook, but doing it professionally is new to me.  It is fearful to know that what I say is being judged by my peers.  That being said just to talk a little bit about myself, I am avid reader.  I love going to the movies but hate seeing books turned into movies, for the most part the book is always better.  My children are my heart and soul giving to me in part by my wonderful husband and childhood sweetheart.  Children enjoy my patient and understanding nature which is why I am a teacher.  Continuing my education is in part the reason for this blog.  I am entering college for the third time to obtain a masters degree and this is ons step in that journey.  I hope that I can help and entertain others along the way.
